Podcast-based Learning Groups

Pastor Matt will be leading two different groups who will use podcasts as a way to learn about Jesus and the history of the Early Church.  There will be a half-hour long “introduction to podcasts (and other ways to listen)” on January 19, at 2:00 pm, which will be repeated at 7:00 pm.  The group will be polled at these meetings to see about finding a convenient time to meet on a weekly basis.  Both sessions will meet in the church parlor. 

The study of the Gospel of John will use a podcast taught by Tom Holladay, who is a pastor at the Saddleback Church, where Rick Warren also pastors.  The format of this podcast is of 10-minute daily segments, 5 per week.  This is a great study for those interested in learning more about Jesus!  We’ll meet once a week to share our discoveries.

The study of the Early Church is a wonderful podcast taught by Maxie Burch, which blends history and faith.  Maxie is a professor of religious studies at Arizona State University; he’s also an associate pastor of a local congregation.  The podcasts, not surprisingly, are on a college-level; they are each about 70-minutes long.  We’ll listen to one podcast a week.  We’ll also meet once a week to share our discoveries.
